A survey of youth in substance abuse treatment programs in the Denver area found that approximately 74% of them used another person’s medical marijuana. The study, published last month in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, also found that adolescents who used medical marijuana had an earlier age of regular marijuana use, more marijuana abuse and dependence symptoms and more conduct disorder symptoms than those who did not use medical marijuana.
The crackdown on the medical marijuana business reached a new level this week. The city council in L.A. voted to shut down 762 marijuana shops. The vote was 14 to 0 to shut down the dispensaries. Jose Huizar said the ban would be enforced, especially against problem dispensaries that have drawn complaints from neighbors. “Relief is on its way,” he said.
The AZ Republic reported that DEA and local law enforcement executed "at least 17 Phoenix- area search warrants" as part of the national crack down on synthetic drugs on Wednesday.
USA Today reported federal and local law enforcement raided dozens of businesses in nearly 100 cities suspected of selling synthetic drugs. These drugs seem to be making the news a lot lately.
