It's no secret the pandemic caused a lot of stress for many and children were not immune. Hygienists with the East Valley Community Dental Clinics noticed the problem last year and so they partnered with Southwest Behavioral & Health Services to address it. A Flagstaff hotel has been purchased by a local shelter group to help those in need of emergency housing. Flagstaff Shelter Services (FSS) purchased the Howard Johnson Motel, located along Route 66 near Country Club Drive. FSS says care coordinators will be on-site 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Agency partners like Native Americans for Community Action, North Country HealthCare, The Guidance Center, Southwest Behavioral & Health Services, and Flagstaff Family Food Center, will also have a strong presence there.

Herzog will be responsible for overseeing School Based Counseling, Community Services and Prevention programming, In-Home Services, and the InSHAPE program throughout Arizona. Herzog is successor to Edward McClelland, who retired after nearly 44 years of service at SB&H.
