The bigger question: Who has access to the contents? According to the Partnership at Drugfree.org, 1 in 4 teens report having misused or abused a prescription drug at least once in their lifetime. A statistic like that means you not only need to think about your own family’s safety, but also worry about other people coming through your home who might also be able to access this medication.
The great news is that you can help make a difference to your family, your community and against the prescription drug epidemic by taking a few minutes this week to check around your home for expired or unused prescription drugs. You can then easily and safely dispose of them right in your own community on Saturday, April 27, thanks to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
Here’s how easy it is:
- Find your closest location by inputting your zip code into the location finder.
- Gather your medicine, place the containers in a sealable snack bag and protect your identity by blacking out your name on the label.
- Drop your medicine off at your preferred location from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
