Even though it’s been a week of winding down, whether through graduations, last days of school and general slowing down due to the long holiday weekend ahead, it was a busy week for local drug news.
Here’s a recap of some of this week’s drug-related local news and events, in case you missed them:
-
N-bomb Webinar: As the newest synthetic drug to pop up and impact our local community, the DrugFreeAz.org team hosted a webinar on Tuesday featuring Dr. Frank LoVecchio of Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. He provided background about the makeup, physical impact and overall challenges N-bomb presents to the community. Check out a replay of the webinar.
-
Synthetic Drugs Online: The synthetic drug scene isn’t just available to your kids locally, but is also accessible online. DrugFreeAz.org’s Senior Director of Programs & Communications, Shelly Mowrey, highlights why it’s important, especially with summer free time ahead, to talk to your kids. Check out the full story that originally aired on ABC 15.
-
MedReturn Boxes: Combating the prescription drug epidemic in Arizona is critical. Thanks to the Mesa Police Department, there will soon be several MedReturn box locations around the Mesa community to safely dispose of unused prescription drugs year-round! Check out the full story that originally aired on azfamily.
- Synthetic Drug Sales in Arizona: Progress against synthetic drug manufacturing and sales in Arizona were made in April when these activities were made illegal. However, azfamily ran a story about local businesses not complying with the new law.
On behalf of the DrugFreeAz.org team, have a fun and safe holiday weekend!
