Electronic devices are all the rage lately, with everything from tablets to smart keys to e-cigarettes readily available on the market.

E-cigarettes are battery-powered devices which deliver a form of liquid nicotine and mimic the feel of traditional cigarettes, and they are likely here to stay. E-cigarettes are marketed as an alternative to smoking, but are these devices safe? And with kid-friendly flavors such as Cherry Crush, Peach Schnapps and Vivid Vanilla, who are they really being marketed to?

It’s no secret that drug and alcohol companies make their products seem cool to teens, but how do you convince kids otherwise?

The e-cigarette world is currently unregulated, which means there could be anything in these cigarettes. But, we do know that there is still nicotine in them, which makes them dangerous and addictive.  In addition, the liquid nicotine can be absorbed through the skin and poses a danger to young children who become exposed.

Talk to your teens about the dangers of smoking or inhaling nicotine, and the dangers of using unknown substances. With the world and technology evolving every day, there is no telling what will come out next. The one thing you can control? The message you send to your kids. Talk to them about all drugs, and make sure you keep the lines of communication open for them to talk to you as well.
