color:black">Prom and graduation season is quickly approaching and that means alcohol is going to be featured at many teen celebrations. Often, parents and other adults assume that alcohol use is inevitable among our kids, thinking that it would be better that their kids drink at home than out at some party. Some see it as a rite of passage into adulthood, equating the consumption of alcohol with maturity. Other adults might believe that there is nothing they can do to reduce these dangerous risks to kids, or that it’s not their place since they don’t have kids of their own.

Our society needs to examine such assumptions more thoughtfully because these assumptions become our children’s values. We cannot follow our kids into every risky situation, but their good character traits can. We invite parents, teachers, and other community members to join us on your lunch break for a free webinar, Alcohol Use: It's Not a Rite of Passage, on Wednesday, April 22 from noon to 12:30.

You’ll be surprised at how many different ways we can all positively impact this problem. Let’s get strategic. To register, please visit www.DrugFreeAZKids.org/webinars.
