Summertime Fun Time

It’s not too soon to start planning family summer break activities. Although Arizona gets a bad reputation for scorching  summer temperatures, that doesn’t have to stop families from having fun together. Need some ideas?

Check out what DrugFreeAz.org team members are looking forward to this summer:

  • Leslie Bloom, CEO: “Enjoying a vacation at the beach and seeing the hummingbirds in Sedona.”
  • Thalia Williams, Program Director: “I’m most looking forward to taking an early summer vacation to the UK in May. I’ll be spending a week in England, visiting family and friends. I am so excited to see my aunt Ivona and cousin Simon in London and catch up, as it’s been over three years since my last visit. I’m planning on visiting the Tate Modern, going on the Harry Potter Studio Tour and maybe squeezing in a walking tour or two. Of course, no trip to England would be complete without taking a high tea complete with scones, jam and cream. I was fortunate to have lived in England as a child, and I consider it my home away from home. I hope your summer travels, however far they take you, bring you somewhere that feels like home!”
  • Kim Obert, Program Manager: “I’m looking forward to swimming with my granddaughter Bella. She knows how to swim, so it’s all fun and games now. She likes to jump off the side into the pool, dive down to pick up shiny pennies on the bottom and her favorite—talking underwater!”
  • Theresa Londono, Program Manager: “My favorite thing about summer is the down time I have with my husband and kids. We become night owls. Since the kids don’t have to get up early for school, we can stay up late and play games, swim, eat ice cream, have impromptu visits with family and friends, and most important, have great conversations about nearly anything. I also really enjoy it when my kids’ friends and my nephew come over for sleepovers and movie marathons. Summer brings a slower pace to our family life.”

Here’s to planning a safe and fun summer with our families!
